WRC Rally d’italia Sardegna

As i finalise my packing for my next adventure overseas I thought it would be time to recap Rally d’italia Sardegna.

I arrived after a long and rewarding 2 weeks in Italy, I was still feeling the effects of being sick for the past 2 weeks but I wasn’t going to let that bother me.

Sardinia or Sardegna is only a short 45min flight from Rome so it wasnt long before I was back on WRC turf and ready to go.

Alghero on the west coast of the island was the main rally hub, Alghero is beautiful, an old town with plenty of things to do.

Ok i think I have done enough talking, the rally was brilliant, felt very much like home with the dust, a lot like the bull dust of Western Australia just not red :), the location of stages however was interesting, 100+km each morning to reach them, not that i am worried 🙂 but when you have a 100km to travel back to service park with all the rally fans it means lengthy traffic jams in small villages, nonetheless the rally was amazing, a must in my opinion, some of the stages are spectacular like the famous 59km Monte Lerno stage through the wind farms is quite spectacular, Rally d’italia Sardegna is definately on my list of rallies to visit again, as is the island of Sardinia, I wish I had a few extra days after the rally to explore the island, ohh well next time 🙂

Next for me? France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Spain.
