World Travel itinerary covering the WRC

Well here we are, the beginning of my first of two Round The World trips this year.

As I sit here in the Qantas Lounge at Sydney airport waiting to board my flight, I thought I would share my itinerary.

My first stop will be Buenos Aires, I have a total of 9 days before I head to Cordoba which is pretty much central Argentina for WRC Argentina.

Tomorrow I am heading to a Boca Juniors vs Arsenal Football game in the heart of Argentinian soccer country.  I have no doubt this will be one of the highlights of this trip –  the possibility of 70,000 Boca fans screaming and chanting will be an amazing atmosphere/experience.

Next Wednesday I fly to Mendoza on the Western side of Argentina to begin a 3 day drive of the Andes mountain range, I have sussed out a few places on Google Maps that look pretty cool, I have also planned to drive some of the Dakar Rally route on the main highway R40 which travels the entire length of Argentina.

I then fly back to BA for a few days then its finally rally time. I fly to Cordoba to meet my friend and colleague Andre Lavadinho.  I will be working with Andre’s agency ‘@tWorld by Andre Lavadinho’.  I am also providing images to a number of online motorsport websites, and a few print magazines.

From Cordoba, Andre and I fly to Ponta Delgada in Portugal for a round of the European Rally Championship; ERC Acores on the beautiful island of Azores.

Next stop?  Italy, where I get to have a bit of a break.  I have 15 days on the road to see as much of Italy as possible – Tuscany, Florence, Cinque Terre, Lake Como, Stelvio Pass, Bolzano, the Dolomites, Verona, Tuscany and back to Rome.  I am skipping Rome for now, as I will come back after WRC Italy for 5 days before I head home.

After my two weeks on the Italian mainland, I will meet Andre in Sardegna for WRC Italy.

My final destination is Rome where I have 5 days to both relax and see as much and experience as much as I can.  I visited Rome some years ago with my parents, as 10 year old boy.  And then again, in 2000 on a Contiki Tour so I will probably miss the crowds and the normal tourist places and try and experience Rome like the locals do.

And that’s it, 52 days on the road, seeing the world and experiencing a variety of cultures, its without doubt going to be an experience of a lifetime and something I will not take for granted, I intend to soak up every bit of this experience.

My second overseas trip starts on 27 September this year.  I head back to Europe for 7 weeks in France and Spain.

Let this trip begin.
